Claudia Embrey-Makaike is a native of Georgia and was raised in Forest Park, just outside of Atlanta. Always interested in photography, Claudia studied at LaGrange College where black and white photography and dark room work led to the inevitable next step, portfolios and portraits.

Atlanta, the Mecca of the South for actors, models, etc, provided a lucrative career for her. As with most photographers, weddings and various odd jobs were her bread and butter. She did most of her work on location, either with the usual backdrop or natural settings, in or out of doors. She prefers to work this way, capturing people in surroundings that they were familiar with.

Claudia continued and expanded her business when she moved to Hawaii. As you'd expect, the breathtaking beauty of the islands, both scenery and people, offered many opportunities culturally and commercially to her. Tourism, a large part of Hawaii's economy, gave her a lot of convention work which led to hotel functions and local events, such as Baby Luaus, reunions, and of course, weddings. She still did portfolios and portraits, but her experiences there with events like the Triple Crown Surfing Championships and some work for environmental muralist Wyland, ranks as some of her best memories.

Strolling Oahu's beaches dressed in shorts, T-shirts, and flip flops, camera always in hand, Claudia tried to capture life in the islands. Those moments assured her that her being a photographer was not a career choice, but more of a lifestyle. Recording everyday people and their celebrations of life became her passion. It was evident early on that the joy on people's faces when seeing themselves through her eyes has motivated her to keep true to her style. The reward is as true today as it was from her first photo.

After Hawaii, beaches etc, what could be more different? Mountains, snow and a spirit that Hawaii also has. Odd that two opposites should share the gift of awesome beauty. So Claudia then moved on to Colorado to take in what the Rocky Mountains had to offer.

Today, Claudia  is once again back living in her home state of Georgia, after living in Colorado for 3 years. She is now working with her photography in the Atlanta area. She now resides in Stockbridge, near her family.

Claudia's life and love of photography has brought her to a time and place where it's not just a business anymore but a sense of sharing. Sharing her knowledge of photography by creating and Making Memories together.
